One home project, several trades: make the handoffs clear
Organize a project involving plumbing, HVAC and electrical work by agreeing on equipment details, scope boundaries, approvals and who coordinates the next step.
Describe the complete project first
A project may need conversations with more than one trade. Give each business the same description of the intended result instead of assuming that a separate estimate covers every connection. For a proposed equipment change, share the actual product information when you have it. Let the appropriate providers establish what the property and proposed installation require.
Write down the boundaries between estimates
Use a short list with a responsible business beside each part of the proposed work. Ask who supplies the equipment, who checks compatibility, who arranges any applicable approvals and who confirms completion. These are planning questions, not a statement that a particular permit or upgrade is required. The provider and relevant authority must determine the requirements for the actual property and scope.
Agree on how changes will be authorized
The FTC’s consumer guidance recommends reading written terms and keeping the scope, timing and price clear before work begins. Ask what happens if one provider finds something that changes another provider’s task. A shared written brief makes that discussion easier than several disconnected conversations. LocalFoundry’s service guides can help you identify questions, while the businesses undertaking the work remain responsible for their proposals and arrangements.
